Hillary on Russia and Putin: ‘The reset worked’

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appeared on On Point radio today and said “The reset worked” with Russia and Vladimir Putin.

According to CNBC’s Chief Washington Correspondent John Harwood:

In 2009, Hillary presented Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with a ‘reset’ button gift that read “Peregruzka” in Russian. However,  Lavrov noted that it actually means “overcharge” and not reset.

Clinton said she presented the gift because it represented “what President Obama and Vice President Biden and I have been saying and that is, ‘We want to reset our relationship.’ And so we will do it together.”

Hillary’s doubling down of the ‘reset’ [or 'overcharged,' in translation] theme that Obama originally promised through his administration, shows how out-of-touch this administration is with reality.

At a time when Russia’s perception of the U.S.’s strength to counter its aggression is at an all-time low, only a former member of Obama’s administration would have the gall to say such a reset ‘worked.’ Either she’s insulated from what the rest of the country–and world–understands about the failures of this administration, or she defines ‘reset’ as kowtowing to Putin’s will.
