Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nevada) recently took to the Senate floor and claimed that only Republicans have billionaire backers and that Democrats do not. However, Reid’s very own Leadership PAC was fueled by a multi-million dollar donation from a billionaire two months ago.
“I guess what else should we expect? The decisions by the Supreme Court have left the American people with the status quo in which one sides billionaires are pitted against the other sides billionaires; except one side doesn’t have any billionaires. We must undo the damage done by the Supreme Court’s recent campaign finance decisions and we need to do it now,” Reid said.
In April, billionaire liberal mega-donor Tom Steyer dumped $5 million into Harry Reid’s Senate Majority PAC. The PAC reported receipts of $5.7 million from April 17 to April 30 — almost all of which came from the liberal mega-donor. This donation was twice as large as the one given to the PAC by fellow billionaire Michael Bloomberg earlier this year.
Other notable billionaires who back Democrats include: George Soros, Warren Buffet, Stephen Spielberg, Haim Saban, etc.
